Chia-Fn WU 吳佳芬

Die aus Chiayi, Taiwan stammende und jetzt in Belgien lebende Sopranistin Chia-Fen WU (Fanny) verfügt über mehrere akademische Grade, darunter einen Bachelor- und einen Masterabschluss der Taipei National University of the Arts, ein Graduate Performance Diploma in Oper vom Royal College of Music (RCM) und ein Graduate Diploma in Performance von der International Opera Academy in Belgien. Frau WU wurde eine unbefristete Stelle im Chor des Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Belgien angeboten, und sie trat in fast einhundert Opernproduktionen auf. Derzeit ist sie Vorstandsmitglied der Belgian International Opera Academy. Sie setzt sich auch sehr aktiv für Taiwan ein und nutzt ihr Stimmtalent, um taiwanesische Musik sowie herausragende taiwanesische Musiker dem europäischen Publikum vorzustellen.

Auf der Opernbühne trat Frau Wu auf in: Gilda in «Rigoletto» von Verdi, Lady Macbeths Zofe in «Macbeth», Prokofjews «Der Spieler» als Lady White, Echo in Richard Strauss’ «Ariadne auf Naxos», Jungfrau Maria in Franz Schrekers «Der Schmied» von Gent. Sie war auch Sopransolistin in Mozarts «Requiem» und «Messe in c-Moll», Händels «Messias», Mahlers «Sinfonie Nr. 4» und «Szenen aus Goethes Faust» von Schumann.

Zu ihren wichtigsten Konzerten zählen 2019 LIVE AT LUNCH im Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, und das Wiedereröffnungskonzert des Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Belgien im Jahr 2020 nach seiner Schließung aufgrund von Covid-19. Im September 2022 nahm die WU an Kurt Weills „Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny“ am Opera Ballet Vlaanderen teil, arbeitete mit dem weltberühmten belgischen Regisseur Ivo Van Hove zusammen und wurde zu einer Tournee an das Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg eingeladen.

Originally from Chiayi, Taiwan, and now Belgium-based Soprano Chia-Fen WU(Fanny), holds several academic credits including a Bachelor- and a Masterdegree from the Taipei National University of the Arts, Graduate Performance Diploma in Opera from the Royal College of Music (RCM), and Graduate Diploma in Performance from International Opera Academy in Belgium. WU is offered a tenured position at the chorus of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Belgium, and performed in nearly one hundred opera productions, and is currently serving as one of the Belgian International Opera Academy board members. Wu is also very proactive in speaking out for Taiwan using her talent of voice, introducing Taiwanese music, along with outstanding Taiwanese musicians to European audience.

Wu’s important appearances in opera stage include: Gilda in «Rigoletto» by Verdi, Lady Macbeth’s maid in «Macbeth», Prokofiev’s «The Gambler» as Lady White, Echo in Richard Strauss’ «Ariadne auf Naxos», Virgin Mary in Franz Schreker's «Der Schmied» von Gent. She also served as the soprano soloist in Mozart's «Requiem» and «Mass in C minor», Handel’s «Messiah», Mahler’ «Symphony No. 4, » and «Scenes from Goethe's Faust» by Shuman.

WU’s key recitals include 2019 LIVE AT LUNCH at Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, and the reopen concert of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Belgium in 2020, after its shutdown due to Covid-19. In September 2022, WU participated in Kurt Weill’s «Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny» at the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, working with world-renowned Belgian director Ivo Van Hove, and was invited to toured to Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg.
