Gordon S.W. Chin 金希文

Gordon S.W. Chin (DMA Eastman School of Music, 1988) hat sich in seinem Heimatland Taiwan als einer der produktivsten und gefragtesten Komponisten etabliert. Gordon Chin, Träger des 20. Taiwan National Award for Arts, ist derzeit Fakultätsmitglied an der National Taiwan Normal University.

Chin wurde mit zahlreichen Aufträgen bedeutender Ensembles und Institutionen in Nordamerika, Asien und Europa geehrt. Chins Werke wurden auf verschiedenen internationalen Festivals, wie dem Tong Yeong International Music Festival, dem Manchester International Cello Festival, dem Aspen Music Festival, dem Wroclaw Music Festival, dem Great Mountain Music Festival und dem Klara Festival in Brüssel, präsentiert. Ein Album mit Chins Werken „Formosa Seasons“ und „Double Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Orchestra“ unter der Leitung von Michael Stern mit Cho-Liang Lin und Felix Fan als Solisten wurde 2007 vom Naxos-Label veröffentlicht. 2015 veröffentlichte Naxos das zweite Album mit Chins Werken Sinfonie Nr. 3 und Cellokonzert Nr. 1, dirigiert von Shao-Chia Lu und mit Wen-Sinn Yang als Solistem für das Cellokonzert.

Gordon Chin (DMA Eastman School of Music, 1988) has established himself as one of the most prolific and sought-after composers in his native country Taiwan. Gordon Chin, the recipient of the 20^th Taiwan National Award for Arts, is currently a faculty member at the National Taiwan Normal University.

Chin has been honored by quite a few commissions from major ensembles and institutions in North America, Asia, and Europe. Chin’s works have been presented in different international Festivals such as Tong Yeong International Music Festival, Manchester International Cello Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Wroclaw Music Festival, Great Mountain Music Festival, and Klara Festival in Brussels. An album featuring Chin’s works ‘Formosa Seasons’ and ‘Double Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Orchestra’ conducted by Michael Stern with Cho-Liang Lin and Felix Fan as soloists was released by the Naxos Label in 2007. In 2015 Naxos released the second album featuring Chin’s works Symphony No. 3 and Cello Concerto No. 1, conducted by Shao-Chia Lu with Wen-Sinn Yang as the soloist for the cello concerto.
