Chia-Ying LIN (*1990) ist eine Komponistin aus Taiwan. Ihre Werke finden seit 2015 internationale Anerkennung, darunter mit dem Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize 2018 (UK), den sie als erste Taiwanerin seit dessen siebzigjähriger Verleihung errang. Weitherhin wurde sie ausgezeichnet mit dem dritten Preis beim Internationalen Jean-Sibelius-Composition Competition (Finnland), dem ersten Preis beim International Composition Competition Piero Farulli (Italien), einem in Auftrag gegebenen Preis des Goethe -Instituts Korea für sein Asian Composers Showcase 2017, als Gewinnerin des Seattle Symphony 2018-19 Celebrate Asia Composition Competition und dem ersten Preis beim Kompositionswettbewerb des National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra (2019). Sie erhielt einen Kompositionsauftrag von der Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung (2021).

Ihre Werke wurden in Europa, Asien und den USA von Orchestern und Ensembles wie dem Philharmonia Orchestra (UK), Seattle Symphony, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Chinese Orchestra, Camerata Taiwan, Ensemble TIMF, HKNME, Psappha, Quartetto Maurice, Quatuor Béla, Tangram (UK) aufgeführt, u. a.; bei Festivals wie dem Mänttä Music Festival, Philharmonia’s Music of Today, Festival Archipel (Genf), aDevantgarde-Festival, PlayIt! Festival (Florenz), Tongyeong International Music Festival, Asia Culture Center Contemporary Arts Festival (Korea), Innovation Series des National Performing Arts Center (Taiwan), WeiWuYings Taiwan International Festival of Arts, u. a.; ferner an renommierten Orten wie der Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Center (London), Benaroya Hall (Seattle), Bayerische Akademie der Schönen Künste (München), Auditorium Parco della Musica (Rom), Teatro Verdi (Florenz), Accademia Filarmonica Romana (Rom ), Rathaus Hämeenlinna (Finnland), Budapest Music Center (Ungarn), Tongyeong Concert Hall (Korea), West Kowloon Cultural District (HK), Taiwans National Concert Hall und WeiWuYing.

Lins Musik wurde auf CD unter anderen von Orchid Classics, NMC Recordings, T-MAP (Taiwan) und dem eigenen Label des National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra veröffentlicht. Ihre ausgewählten Partituren sind bei Ricordi (Mailand) und Ermes 404 (Rom) erschienen.

Lin studierte Komposition an der Taipei National University of the Arts bei Tsung-Hsien Yang, an der University of Manchester (UK) bei Philip Grange, am Conservatorio Santa Cecilia (Rom) bei Matteo D'Amico und an der Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia ( Rom) mit Ivan Fedele. 2017 absolvierte sie ein sechsmonatiges Mentorenprogramm bei der Peter Eötvös Stiftung. Sie wurde für das Philharmonia Orchestra/RPS Composers‘ Academy 2018/19 unter der Leitung von Unsuk Chin ausgewählt.

Chia-Ying LIN (b.1990) is a composer from Taiwan. Her works have earned international recognition since 2015, including a 2018 Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize (UK), third prize at the International Jean Sibelius Composition Competition (Finland), first prize at the International Composition Competition Piero Farulli (Italy), a commission prize from the Goethe-Institut Korea for its Asian Composers Showcase 2017, the winner of the Seattle Symphony 2018-19 Celebrate Asia Composition Competition, and first prize at the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra’s composition competition (2019). She receives a Composition Commission (2021) awarded by the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung.

Lin’s music has been released on CD labels such as Orchid Classics, NMC Recordings, T-MAP (Taiwan), and the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra’s own label. Her selected scores have been published by Ricordi (Milan) and Ermes 404 (Rome).
