Ching-Ju SHIH 石青如

Ching-Ju SHIH, Komponistin, erhielt ihren Bachelor an der Taiwan Normal University, den Master of Music an der Boston University im Doppelhauptfach Komposition und Klavier und Doctor of Musical Arts an der City University of New York. Shih wurde von der Society of PiKappa Lambda zum Ehrenmitglied gewählt. 1993 wurde ihr "Taiwan Graffiti"-Album für das beste Arrangement mit dem Golden Tripod Award ROC ausgezeichnet. Die leidenschaftliche Taiwanerin Shih ist für ihr großes Geschick bei der instrumentalen Anpassung taiwanischer Volkslieder bekannt.

As an active composer, Ms. Shih collaborates with several organizations including Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Taiwan Soloists Symphony Orchestra, Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Philharmonic Chorus, Formosa Singers and Chiang Wei Shui Cultural Foundation. Her music received great acclaim from audience and professional musicians for its lyrical characteristics and graceful flavor of Taiwanese folk music. . Ms. Shih’s recent works include a cappella suite »Song of the Earth«, piano trio »Ode to Life«, double concerto »Breaking Dawn« and cantata »Jail as My Hotel«. Her symphony »The Great Land« will be premiered in September, 2020.

Residing in San Francisco Bay Area, Ms. Shih devotes herself as an active composer, pianist and a teacher. In addition to composing, Ms. Shih lectures at schools and local communities in the
